The
feast represents the victory, in July 1517, of the local inhabitants
over the army of Francesco Maria I della Rovere, who had besieged
the Corinaldo Castle for twenty days in the month of June.
Hundreds of knights and madonnas dressed in XIV century costumes,
tumblers, jugglers and flag-jugglers, who move by the rythm of
drums and bass clarinets, make a beautiful background to celebrations
and competitions commemorating the arrival of the Duke of Urbino,
Lorenzo dei Medici, who had come to congratulate Corinaldo inhabitants
on their courage.
