Corsa all'Anello

From end April
to second Sunday of May

The feast celebrating St. Giovenale, patron saint of the town, dates back to 1371. It starts with the opening of old taverns and the public crier's announcement of the game. On 2nd May the ceremony of the Offer of candles takes place in the Cathedral, while on the 3rd the "Corsa all'Anello" (Ring race) is held in the Piazza dei Priori (Priori's Square).

On the second Saturday of the month a procession of XIV century costumes pass and on the following day a spectacular horse-race requiring speed and skill - a modern version of the Corsa all'Anello - takes place.
At the same time the public can enjoy a series of exhibitions, meetings and theatre performances on Medieval culture.
